VDT (Video Display Terminal)/Computer Examination

This day in age, many people spend most or all of their working day at a VDT work station. An unfortunate by-product of this technological advance is that many VDT workers experience eye-related discomfort. Symptoms that have been reported include: eye strain, headaches, blurred vision, double vision, ocular irritation, burning eyes, after images, and ocular fatigue. These symptoms are collectively known as Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS).

The VDT examination was designed to be a primary care examination with special emphasis on the needs of the VDT or computer monitor user. Based on the examination, your doctor will be better able to prescribe lenses that will reduce the symptoms associated with CVS. Your doctor may also review exercises to ease or eliminate discomfort while promoting proper ergonomics. Learn more.

Multidisciplinary Care and Referral

Our doctors are certified in the removal of foreign bodies from the eye and the treatment of many eye infections and conditions. They advance their knowledge in these areas through continuing education. If you have a general health or eye condition requiring additional expertise, you will be referred to the appropriate provider for further diagnosis and treatment. Our doctors work closely with local professionals and specialists from major health centers. Our doctors provide pre- and post-surgical care at our office, for everything from cataract removal to refractive surgery.

Corneal Refractive Therapy (CRT)

Primary Eyecare Optometrics offers the ability to enjoy great vision without the hassles of glasses and daytime contacts using Paragon CRT lenses. Custom therapeutic lenses are used to reshape the cornea while sleeping and are then removed upon awaking resulting in clear vision throughout the day. Learn more.

Refractive Surgery Consultation and Evaluation

Refractive surgery has resulted in freedom from glasses and contact lenses for thousands of patients. Refractive surgery involves a variety of procedures including LASIK, PRK/LASEK, INTACS, and clear lensectomy. These procedures can correct a wide range of nearsightedness and astigmatism, and LASIK can even correct modest amounts of farsightedness, offering more alternatives for a variety of lifestyles.

With careful examination and evaluation, our doctors can determine whether refractive surgery is an option for you.
